Amniocentesis

According to current data, the intervention-related abortion risk in amniocentesis (AC) is approx. 1:1000.It is a factor of 10 lower than shown in the internet. And is therefore slightly higher than the risk of chorionic villus sampling for the occurrence of a rupture of membranes. This can be understood on the basis of the schematic drawing, because in contrast of chorionic villus sampling, when performing amniocentesis, the amniomembrane, which protects the child, is perforated and, in the worst case, amniotic fluid can escape.
